Volkmar Arts and Crafts Ship Tile Bird Housed in a mahogany frameThis Arts and Crafts era tile is decorated with a ship or galleon design. The outline of the ship and waves is slightly raised in a slip trail and the tile is covered in matte glazes in shades of blue. It measures 7 7 8" square and 3 4" thick. Unsigned, it is attributed to Leon Volkmar (1879 1959) Studio at Durant Kilns of Bedford Village NY. Good condition. It has flaking around the edges which would be hidden if framed.
