Red elm as the name suggests has a more red tone and has a more aesthetically pleasant grain. It was considered in China to be superior to its northern elm relative. Red elm is the typical wood used in pieces from Jiangsu province. Most flower stands from Jiangsu were lacquered in a burgundy lacquer. Remains of the
