The bench takes inspiration from the lavish cocktail parties of the 1950s in the US, representing the booming economy of the time. Hollywood and the new upper class had made cocktail parties immensely popular and Finn Juhl was readily impressed by this newfound American extravagance. The bench can also be spotted in Finn Juhl's
