Original mirrors are rare to find in India, especially undamaged ones like this. The frame is an Indian imitation of French eglomise mirrors of the 18th century. The mirror glass has a bevel adding to its regal feel. Reverse glass painting originated in Italy and the skill was then exported to China. It rose to popularity in India in the 19th century as itinerant Chinese
