Gilt Tibetan Table From Tsurpu - Late 18th Century Material - Bronze The mirror has been fittedAn excellent and unusual example of an antique Tibetan painted table dating from the late 18th century. Tables like this were used by Llamas in their private quarters and are sometimes seen in thangkas. The raised gesso work is traditionally known as kyungbur. This style of gilt kyungbur is seen exclusively in Tsurpu monastery in Central Tibet, the traditional seat of the Karmapa, head of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. Similar examples
