Instituted August 14 1946. In silver gilt and enamels, a grand cross sash badge with blue and white enamels, blue enameled cross with obverse gilt centerpiece depicting the profile of Jos Matas Delgado, with five emanating rays in each quadrant, reverse centerpiece reads HONOR A LOS PRCERES DE LAS INDEPENDENCIA SALVADOREA, surmounted by a wreath, measuring 50. 87mm (w) x 80. 8 mm (h inclusive of integral ball
