Constructed of black wool with a buckram core, trimmed with twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire piping, and pinned with two bronze rank pips, unmarked, measuring 42 mm (w) x 60 mm (l), the pips have lost their original silver finish and a hole is visible where one has been removed or lost to time (indicating a previous Untersturmfhrer tab), with an additional spot of soiling flanking one pip, in very
