Paul Martin Petschel was born June 6th, 1893 in Oberneukirch, in the region of Dresden Bautzen, Saxony. He was a married, protestant man who had previously worked as a carpenter, but at the time was working as a farmer. His father Ernst was also a farmer, and died in 1914, and his mother was
